I'm making preparations for the studio tour. One of those tasks included making postcard prints from my linocut. If your not sure what the heck a linocut is, click on the word. Or click, HERE, to see my previous post on how I made the stamp or relief.

Don't worry, this isn't all I'm going to have to choose from during the tour. I'll have prints of my paintings, the originals, and other fun stuff too.

Illustration Friday: Diary

For Illustration Friday's topic I chose a page from my diary instead of illustrating a diary.  This is a journal entry I made about a year after my dad died from cancer.

Can we eat to starve cancer?

Awesome TED talk on eating to crush cancer early on with an antiangiogenesis diet.  Prevention works!  My next grocery shopping trip I'm stocking up on strawberries, red grapes, soy products too.  It's a 20 minute video, but well worth it for the life saving info.

DMNS Interview with ACH

Thanks to curator Nicole at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science who came and video tapped my work.  Hopefully, in the future, I'll be able to work more closely with the museum to help further the relationship between science and art.

Artist Transforms Ugliness

Cell structure is imperceptible to the naked eye, yet, artist Angela Canada Hopkins has found beauty in the microscopic abnormalities of the cell.  Cancer took her father in 2001 and Canada Hopkins therapeutically began to explore colorful fatal structures of the cancer cell.  Ironically, she discovered a bittersweet beauty and was compelled to paint.  Canada Hopkins’ poignant and beautiful portrayal of cancerous cells is truly distinctive – a must see!

Selected works from the Cancerous Art series will be on display at the Sizzle & Bang Gallery “Look In…Look Out” group exhibition, February 5 through March 26, 767 Santa Fe Drive, Denver CO, 80204.  Additional artists in the show include, Kenneth Crumley, Maria Lopez, Roger Rapp, Lelija Roy, and Viral.

I might have been a little mean when I told my husband, James, his idea was stupid.  I felt so guilty that I drew it for him.  Here's the page from my sketch book.
Hopefully I'll come up with some way to incorporate a message of prevention into my work.  Still brainstorming...any ideas?  I promise I'll be nice.
